Symbol Editor

The Symbol Editor lets you design custom electrical symbols that can be placed in your wiring diagrams just like built-in symbols.

Pro Feature

The Symbol Editor requires a Pro subscription.

Opening the Editor

Access the Symbol Editor from the navigation menu. It opens in a dedicated workspace with a 100×100 unit canvas, a shape toolbar on the left, and a properties panel on the right.

Available Shapes

You can compose your symbol from the following shape primitives:

ShapeDescription
RectangleRectangular shape with configurable width, height, fill, and stroke
CircleCircle with configurable radius, fill, and stroke
LineMulti-segment line with configurable points
ArcArc with inner/outer radius and angle
RingRing (donut) with inner and outer radius
TextText label with configurable content and font size
PolygonRegular polygon with a configurable number of sides

Adding a Shape

Select a shape type from the sidebar and click Add Shape. A default instance appears on the canvas. You can then drag it into position and edit its properties in the properties panel on the right.

Editing Properties

Click any shape on the canvas to select it. The properties panel updates to show that shape's attributes (position, size, colors, stroke width, etc.). Changes apply in real time as you edit.

Shape Ordering

Right-click a shape to access layer ordering options:

  • Send to Top / Send to Back — move the shape to the front or back of the stack.
  • Move Up / Move Down — shift the shape one layer forward or backward.
  • Duplicate — create a copy of the shape.
  • Delete — remove the shape.

Grid and Snapping

Toggle the grid from the editor toolbar to display guide lines. When the grid is visible, shapes and connection points snap to grid intersections as you drag them, making it easy to align elements precisely.

Zoom and Pan

  • Ctrl+Scroll (Cmd+Scroll on Mac) — zoom in and out.
  • Middle mouse button — pan the canvas.
  • Use the zoom buttons in the toolbar to zoom in, zoom out, or reset the view.
